Who are we?

Nazariya QFRG was started by the following people:

Ritu1. Rituparna Borah: At Nazariya, Rituparna is a part of the board at NazariyaQFRG and responsible for networking, fundraising, programme and organizational development and implementation.

Rituparna queer feminist activist with around 15 years of experience of working on issues gender and sexuality. She joined Nirantar in 2007, where she was extensively involved in planning and conducting training sessions on sexuality with organizations, collectives, rural communities, gender trainers, lawyers, students and government officials.  She has also contributed towards Adolescence Education Programme training material published by the National Council on Education, Research and Training (NCERT) and wrote a section for IGNOU.

She is also actively involved with collectives such Delhi Queer Pride and Voices Against 377.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Miranda House (Delhi University), a master’s degree in the same subject from Centre for Political Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University and an M.Phil from Faculty of Arts at Delhi University. Her thesis was supervised by Dr. Nivedita Menon and was on freedom of expression and censorship in democracy. She is also a fellow of OutRight Action International for Beijing 25+ process on LGBTQIA rights

2. Ritambhara Mehta: At Nazariya, Ritambhara is a part of the board at NazariyaQFRG and responsible for networking, fundraising, programme and organizational development and implementation.

She has over 8 years of experience in the areas of education, gender, and sexuality. I also consult with ASER Centre on their Policy on Sexual Harassment at Workplace. My additional responsibilities at ASER Centre-Pratham include preparing and implementing processes and policies across teams such as performance management and compliance.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a post-graduate diploma in Conflict Transformation & Peacebuilding from Lady Shri Ram College for Women (Delhi University). She graduated with a Master’s degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Ritambhara is an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) fellow of the United States Department of State, United States of America.

3. Purnima Gupta:

Currently a Programme Director at Nirantar. She has worked with more than 50 organisations and building their capacity to design and implement literacy programmes. Purnima has been responsible for setting up Nirantar’s community-level work on women’s education in Mehroni Block (Lalitpur district, Uttar Pradesh).

Purnima is a trainer on issues of gender, caste and sexuality. She also creates training modules, conducts evaluations & research and does advocacy on young girls education and women’s literacy & empowerment.
